Cant sleep bc tummy hurts but its given me more time to think about my personal Zelda iteration and I think I finally came up with what this settings version of ganon is and it's really fun
I realized earlier that I had accidentally created themes of duality and trying to reconcile the different parts of yourself with Zelda and Links characters and I had already wanted to make this version of Ganon two seperate characters (inspired by the twinrova.)
So I have this idea of a rogue Gerudo who wants power and control, thinks the Gerudo people deserve it, and of course she should lead them. I'm gonna call her Gala but I havent settled on a name yet. She either summons or finds Ganon and hes this horrible beastial monster, barely has form, and all it does is hunger. Gala starts setting up more and more raids to feed this thing, thinking that by feeding it she can control it and its power.
The other Gerudo dont want this, this is insane, trying to raise Ganon back up? Gala has always been an intense woman but they never realized how much she craved power and control. She beats down anyone who tries to stop her, many Gerudo die or become possessed and mindlessly work for her. Many more flee further into Hyrule.
A small detail is Zelda and Link learn that the raids have been hitting a pig farm really hard, most of the livestock taken.
By the time the duo find Gala, Ganon has taken on structure, a massive monstrous pig like thing, barely held back by whatever Gala is binding it with. She's so proud of her monster, so happy that the Princess and her Knight are here to see the start of her reign. She releases Ganon, intending the two to be its first victims.
This monster doesn't know friend from foe, it only knows Hunger. Gala is directly infront of it. She turns just in time to see its jaws come down around her.
Ganon starts shifting, changing, the pig body collapsing and coalescing into a human shape. The thick body, dark skin, red hair of Ganondorf emerge. The lust for control and power and the Gerudo shape of Gala and the mad hunger of Ganon mixed together to form the man before them. Zelda and Link are forced to flee.
#theres a lot more to this on the Zelda and Link sides of the story#but id beem trying to piece the Ganon part together for a minute#orignally before this i was thinking of fiery ragey twunkish Ganon and an Old General cold and calculating Ganon#that at first dont seem related to one another and are unique villains for Link and Zelda respectively#but then i was like... what if monster ganon... that takes on aspects of the things it eats and thats why it looks like a pig...#and to become Ganondorf it eats someone...... GERUDO VILLAIN#in the story leading up to the Scene™️ Gala is a bit like a Ghirahim/Zant kinda bitch that shows up to annoy the fuck out of you#but like. in a girlboss way. because this is insanely funny to me.#anyway i also like this because its like Ganon becomes self actualized before Link and Zelda do#i may talk more about that later tho ive been writing this post for an hour now#zelda#loz#legend of zelda#crazee talk

revalink!!
https://www.tumblr.com/dizzying-faust/614856861677699072?source=share
(Answering that Other ask gave me the motivation to answer this one as well)
Thank you for the ask, it was a TON of fun, even If it took me forever to answer. Also, a little warning, this Post is LONG as HECK and Kind of rambly
Revalink- Ship It!!!!!!!
What made you ship it?
I played Breath of the Wild in 2021 during the lockdown because I was finally bored enough I guess? (Funfact, I actually hated Botw before it came Out, because I was a little hater and didn't Like that the Zelda formula was changing lolol). The important takeaway Here is, that I already knew the Story and all memory cutscenes before I played it. The Other cutscenes Not included were new to me, however.
Revali was the first Champion I ended up saving (revali's gale is the best ability and I needed it for the towers). I was faintly aware of the existence of Revalink but never seriously considered it. Now while I was freeing the Terminals and got Bits and pieces of dialogue I thought that it was funny to interpret Revali having a crush on Link and that being the reason he's so mean to him. And it is funny tbh, but at that Point it was Just a joke to me.
And then came the fight against Wind blight, and oh. The dialogue right before?? The dialogue after?????? I should mention at this point that I played the Game in German, so many translations were different. In english, right before the fight, Revali said something along the lines of "Good luck (...) I only lost because I was winging it" and german He tells Link to be careful ("be careful, you hear me?")(also the delivery of that line, bro, voice actor was Not messing around) This in on itself didn't make me ship it, but it Set the tone.
The scene after the fight when Revali is saved and gives Link His gale... I almost dont know how to Put it into words, but the tension in this Scene? When He Looks at Link as If waiting for him to say something? When He Turns around "nevermind Just Go"??? It feels Like there are so many Things left unsaid, Like There's so much more to be said, even though their relationship is technically wrapped up at this point? It honestly caught me so off guard. Not one Scene with any of the Other Champions has this Kind of tension, Not even mipha (who is a Love interest for Link).
Well, then I went on Tumblr and my fate was basically sealed, lol.
TL:DR: because I played the game
What are your favorite things about the ship?
I Love the Potential of this ship! Theres so many ways how this can be insanely funny (this is one sided rivals to lovers, does it get any better than that?), it can be so incredible sad (death!! Amnesia!! Letting Go!!! One sided!!! Unspoken!!! Not meant to be!!! Lots of Other Things Im forgetting!!)
Its INSANE how Well they Work together, especially since I doubt it was done on purpose.
I have so many more thoughts, but I can't Put them together properly, so I'll leave it at that. The next point is Sort of a continuation of what I Love about this ship anyway
Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?
The fact that this ship isnt Canon and will/can never be canon is actually one of the best things about it, in my opinion (dont know If its an unpopular opinion)
It fits right in, in a way.
I Love it when two characters are written in a way, were they Sort of complete each other. Where they Share parallels, goals, have opposing personalities that still Match somehow, where they are each Others Drive and Motivation. Where their Stories Just fit so Well together that you know that they were clearly written for each other.
Link and Revali were Not meant to work Well together, Not Like this at least. Of course Revali was written as a foil to Link (correct me If I'm wrong please, I think this was the Case), so them being opposing is intentional.
If you think about these characters for a certain amount of time, Just slightly more in depth, you will find yourself with the revelation that they are so very similar, they would likely be able to be friends If they Just worked through their differences. But they never do! They never have the time/ are too caught Up in pushing others away in their own ways. They could have been something, but never ended Up being.
This ties so nicely into the theme of destiny and fate (kinda.... I feel Like despite setting this Up as a theme, botw doesnt really Go anywhere with it, so it mostly works nicely in fanfiction and such... Although, If you think I missed something about botw, pls let me know. I'm Not an expert on themes)
Theyre doomed by the narrative and the narrative Said they could never be, so they never were (Its kinda fun how that element is true in the real world as Well as in game)(is what I'm getting at)(theyre Not written as Love interests but MAN do they Work as a romantic couple)(cruel, poetic, amazing, ughhh?!???)(them working Well together as a couple was a coincidence, which again, opposes the destiny thing)(this ship has me in a chokehold, can you Tell)
I'm Just saying a bunch of words, I Hope they make sense... I might have also went off the rails a bit... Eh
If you're still here, thank you so much for reading!!
I do actually really Love answering my Inbox and playing ask games, pls dont let my imcompetence to answer them in a timely manner discourage you from sending one😅😅
#revalink#!!#one of the reasons I dont do long text post: I cannot shut up#and my thoughts are all over the place#I wish I could express myself better :-/#hopefully this was still somewhat coherent#i Love revalink so much#ugh#ask game#thx cryiling for always sending me asks

gonna ramble a lil bit abt loz au stuff so uhhhh
okokokokok. i cant go tooooo indepth abt bellum atm (iykyk) but im gonna. talk abt linebeck stuff specifically within au stuff bc hes fun to play with in aus esp since i hold the belief that he would be a bit different in aus on account of them tending to be very drastically different from canon. ofc the au set in space with hi tech and space travel and his backstory being that [REDACTED]. dw abt the space au idk if ill even get around to spilling the beans on that one any time soon lmao
like ok i have a whole bunch of aus and linebeck teeeends to play a major role in a lot of those aus bc Of Course and bc i think hes interesting
anyways heres the list of aus (took me ages to find this in my archive) but like. it is fun to experiment and be like ok how would this character act in work in x setting with y circumstances and z goals. theres a lil bit of nudging/shoving out of character w/ linebeck in some of these that im trying to wrangle back under control while keeping the story intact while some are fine cuz its like. vastly difference circumstances understandable. gotta keep some staples the same tho
like… without spoiling too much about any of these, crimson king au linebeck is like… hes similar to canon personality wise, if a bit more ruthless, while space au linebeck is just. Out There with some of that same greed and jumpiness, gimmick au linebeck is very much the same but with loftier ambitions and more of a willingness to risk getting hurt for something, in the modern au(s) hes going to be a bit different due to. well. technology going through full schooling meeting different people.
a lot of the fun differences are best expressed through how he fights or what kinds of conflicts he comes into contact with, and i usually try to think to myself how canon linebeck might prefer to fight and then somewhat sticking to that idea while branching out to fit circumstances and setting. crimson king au has him using a pair of knives and fighting in a style that keeps him dodging and moving quickly and aiming to dispatch as quickly as possible. space au linebeck is first and foremost a sniper, with some ‘fights like a cornered animal’ flavoring tossed in. gimmick au linebeck has to learn to fight, but fights dirty and takes every advantage and cheat he can find.
its fun to tinker with his relationships with returning characters too. i have a lot of wiggle room with his relationship with bellum, but i always like to root it in the idea that bellum finds him interesting and ends up being some form of beneficiary due to circumstances. it’s interesting with link, too, they’re usually close or grow to be close, kind of sticking with the idea that they make a good team, in the crimson king au theyre adoptive brothers, in space au theres a sort of (one-sided) rivalry going on, gimmick au is uh… complicated so its fun, in a few aus like the modern or… one of the ruined hyrules they only know each other in passing, and in some theyve never met before. other characters that are fun to play with are zelda, ranging from being enemies to close friends, ganondorf, extremes being an au literally centered around ganonbeck and then an au where they are enemies in a sense, midna is fun to play with, so is ghirahim, it’s fun to see how his relationship with other characters can be taken in different aus
the different designs are also a lot of fun, but theres not a ton i can say here (some aus hes pretty much the same as canon, but a few have him with alternate designs, or both. his space au design is prob my favorite lol. that au is fun)
a few times i have to forcibly put him in a background spot or smth so i cant constantly focus on him while hes still important (murder mystery au is a good example, hes important but not generally to the larger plot, hes kinda just a character who ends up somewhat helping in investigation, other examples being the amnesia link au where hes [REDACTED] and therefore not present for like. half of the story, or the gimmick au, where he has his own stuff to do apart from link and co, or the general modern one, where that one is generally meant to have a larger cast so i. just cant focus on him lol)
au stuff is fun with linebeck i get to put him into highly varied and highly specific Situations
#i may delete this later bc this is specifically to get my mind off of things#salty talks#no tags this post itself is basically a ‘formal’ tag rant

i have been so busy this took so much longer to get to than i initially thought, but here we go. (also, i have not done a proper essay in a decade, so i am not going to worry about making this in "proper" essay formant)
before i really begin, i need to establish something, i dont know how mean to vio i am about to be in this, but it is all said out of love for all of the four sword boys.
shadow is a touch starved gay who absolutely would have (and did) latched onto the first person to show him any small amount of kindness (he just like me fr) and vio, to me, can best be described by the bit in the beginning of "left brain right brain" by bo burnham. "objective, logical, cold, analytical, aware of patterns, aware of trends. hes efficient, and a prick" which does, in a ways track. vio and green do seem to be the more left brain of the four links, with red and blue being more the right side, emotional, sides of the links.
vio works on logic, on facts. shadow is a villain, villains need to be dealt with, even despite vios own feelings. thats why he hesitated in front of the mirror, but ultimately still raises that hammer to smash it. because, despite how much hes been getting along with shadow, in his mind, there has been nothing to show him that shadow would change sides.
meanwhile, shadow, with very little convincing from vio, is willing to turn his back on his creators, and follow vios "new plan" just because vio has been kind to him, and shadow finally has a friend. shadow retaliates when vio tries to smash the mirror by attempting to execute him, but frankly, given that we find out that breaking the mirror literally kills shadow, i feel like thats a valid reaction. and on top of that, from very minimal prompting from zelda, shadow does change his mind and help the heroes. all it took, for shadow to switch sides, was for someone to see him, really see him, and tell him that he is a hero too, even if he doesnt see it himself.
shadow went to vio, because hes cold and analytical, and he knew that was the kind of person he wanted on his side. thats the kind of person he wanted as a friend. unfortunately, those same traits are exactly why, despite enjoying his company, vio was unable to see that shadow was capable of change until it was to late.
what shadow really needed, from a friend, was someone who worked less on logic, and more feelings. he needed the right brain links. and i think a lot of people have up to this point, assumed that the logical choice here would be red. red is the most in tune with his emotions, the most willing to open up, and the clingiest of the links. hes the nice one, the innocent one, the one most likely to look past someones faults and love them anyways. or so you would assume.
the problem is, red wears his emotions on his sleeve, and i think, at this point in the story, shadow would hate that. he would either see reds fear of him as further prof that he is nothing more than a monster in the links eyes, or he would see any attempt at freindship red makes as pity from the "nice" one.
blue, on the other hand, is much less in tune with his emotions, but still runs on them. i think the best example of the both of them running on emotion, and how it affects both of them differently is in chapter 5, after talking to vio. red, at this point, starts spiraling, thinking the other two are dead. blue, on the other hand, ignores the whole conversation with vio, and says the others are fine. even saying "not really" when red asks if hes worried about them.
blues much more blunt take to expressing his thoughts and feelings would, in my opinion, go over much better with shadow. theres no mistaking the kindness for pity if the person is speaking as the thoughts come to his head, rather that trying to soften them to not upset you.
blue knows the other links. its why he was able to tell it wasnt "the real vio" both times he interacted with him after the group split. physically, it was, but there was something so off about the situation, that in blues mind, theres no way it could be. and in a way, he was right. vio was acting. lying to all of them, especially shadow. its also why he was certain that, wherever the real vio and green where, they where fine.
put blues intuition about the links and his bluntness, and i feel, had he been put in vios shoes, had somehow ended up with shadow, not only would they have formed a, in my opinion, more genuine (and healthy), friendship. it also means that blue, had he ever tried to change a plan, and met as little resistance as vio was met with, would be able to recognize it for what it was.
shadow wanted a friend. he wanted to feel like he belonged. was he always destined to be a hero, as zeldas final conversation with him would imply, i dont know. but i do know that he was willing to change, for the people who showed him there was a better way.
as a final point, i present to you, blue
the most visibly upset at shadows death.
vio was shadows wrong person right time
blue was the right person but the timing was all wrong
in this essay i will-

I've seen you reference story implications in the sequel to BOTW a few times but I can't find an explanation and I'm still not sure what you mean 😖
not to worry being a vague mess is one of my fortés lol
im gonna get mad english-class serious a second because i need it to explain my shit hold on to yer horses lads this is gonna get long and over the top im SO SORRY in advance ..........
what i generally mean is if we take every interaction in BotW as if it had actually happened, not in the details minutiae sense like if you felt like Link would be nice to Bozai or want to spin kick him in the head way, but if Nintendo included an interaction or lore then it happened at some point or was learned way (the correct answer is spin kick though), then Link would know a LOT of very personal thoughts and feelings from a LOT of people.
to be fair, most of said people have passed away by this point in the story BUT more to the point Zelda is still very much alive and is also in some kind of tenuous contact with Link throughout the course of the game via Spooky Voice On The Winds just for good measure
regardless of what opinion you come away with of Link's own emotions - original Japanese text adventure log and player point-of-contact poker-face not withstanding - it is 100% canonical that Zelda had a thing for Link before the Calamity after they got to actually interacting and understanding each other. even if you wanna side-eye the construction of the story told by "Captured Memories" to be at LEAST a little romantically orientated (which in my opinion is a dubious stance to take given how typical storytelling structure works), what Kass has to say about the whole thing is explicitly textual, if only through secondhand information (although i will say a court poet seems like a sound bet in terms of reading people and especially if the person youre reading is a teenager with no concept of not wearing her heart on her sleeve and Small Emotions). trying to ignore ALL of that and - to be honest - what the latest batch of writing team has been doing since Skyward Sword isnt so much "reading the subtext/story wrong" as it is willfully ignoring it lol
not that im saying thats a bad thing, i also ignore chunks or details of stories i dislike because "fuck that im having fun" but i can also acknowledge that whatever im ignoring did in fact happen even if i think its stupid ... anyway
and the only reason i think this is a train of thought less-travelled is purely due to how HUGE BotW is, theres a LOT of stuff .. like i hang out with friends mostly playing BotW on twitch every day and we all learn things constantly. if you dont go hard for the lore and story you miss it, thats the nature of storytelling in the way BotW went about it
like i said, it's kind of dependent on what content is to be taken as having ACTUALLY happened. the only thing that isnt up for debate is that he regained all of the main-game memories since that's how you get the "true"/full ending. but did Link really read those diaries, did he really have that chat with Kass in Rito Village, is The Champion's Ballad lore going to be carried over,, that sort of thing. in my opinion? yes, because more solidly Nintendo included it for a reason no matter of what percentage of players found it, but in an off-shoot opinion if i was trying to regain my lost memories i'd give ANYTHING a chance of getting them back even if it meant the awkwardness of reading my long-gone friends diaries 🤷♂️
basically, what i mean when i have a meltdown over "the plot implications of BotW on BotW2" is im extremely curious to see how Nintendo handle 1) Zelda's established feelings towards Link (assuming they still exist, which i think we have reason to believe they do) and 2) Link quite possibly KNOWING about it. oh and them not existing in an extremely rigid class-driven society anymore.
i dunno about you - or the writing team for that matter - but if i was made aware that a pretty and smart person who i used to be around a lot had a thing for me i would be going out of my MIND lmfao
while their dynamic in past games has been quite developed or had romantic overtones before, BotW is by FAR the most complex understanding of them with the most information given to the player about how their characters grow from more than one angle. like having known each other for some time, general depictions of them existing around each other, visible emoting around the others' circumstances .. these things have happened before but not in such a huge combination. oh AND an abject change in their relationship after having come to some kind of understanding, which is definitely new, let alone that understanding happening OFF SCREEN.
i'll stop now before i actually write a full essay, but lets just say this is even more uncharted territory than Skyward Sword's obvious love story and the "oh and then he was king of hyrule :)" at the end of the original, because like ... its a sequel ... after the fact ..... unresolved
........ yeah
#IM SO SORRY IVE OUTDONE MYSELF IM SO RABID ........................#lol remember when i wrote a couple of sherlock metas ? good times ... im never gonna unlearn understanding fiction now its here#lets just say there are a LOT of ways this could go and i hope Nintendo doesnt chicken out if theyre implying what theyve been implying#there are a LOT of ways this could go ... and im not sure what i'd prefer ?? i just dont want them to sweep it under the rug#because THAT would be annoying and kind of rude to the people who DID find all the story they could :/ lol#i was already a hardcore LoZ fan but then BotW came and slapped me in the face with a chainmail gauntlet and challenged me to Step Up#i could actually 100% do a full essay on this im more than equipped but im not that bad yet#no ones pissed me off that badly .. YET .. i have seen some astoundingly bad takes out there though yeesh#anyway i'll go to bed now SORRY AGAIN [blows kiss]#rory's ramblings#asks#anon#long post#zelink#zelda blogging#botw/totk blogging

having knocked through skyward sword hd to the final boss, gonna take the opportunity to collect my thoughts as it were on the game.
STORY
- well i would definitely call the plot a 'zelink plot' when the chips are down, its not nearly quite as prominent as i remember it being. but then, i also found myself being a lot more down on zelda this time in general as well. i think its the value of hindsight, with botw also on the table/mind it really highlights the elements and areas of sszelda that are basically just proto botwzelda [the insufferable waifishness, the atmosphere of self pity, the weird amount of delicateness the narrative insists on treating her with]. nowhere near as bad mind, and the sortta pre tornado bossy childhood friend zelda is a lot of fun compared to the soft moments botw tried. buuuuut stillll... i just cant unsee it.
- i remember the unique races to this game, the mogmas, the jellyfish things, the kuqwi and the robots looking a lot worse then they actually do in terms of design. they're more so just forgettable if anything, nothing to latch onto even just compared to the 2 random gorons roaming about.
- the plot is one of those 'odd ducks' as it were, where theres never really a natural feeling break in the story to focus on side content and quests and the like, but the sense of urgency thats trying to be imposed can never really get off the ground because of how the game actually functions. it just makes it a bit odd to be doing oddjobs around skyloft when as far as the plots concerned zeldas in constant danger.
- i rather like link though if im being frank, hes a charming dope as it were that kinda sharpens along with the master sword into a hero of legend over the games course. you might call it a mix of wwlink and tplink both in terms of art and personality, but i do more so consider it a unique kinda progression for a link [who tend to either be stoic competent or unrepentant goofs].
- the side cast is fine, perfectly serviceable. really though id almost even consider grooses reputation in fandom slightly overblown solely because i kinda feel he only stands out as he does because all the other side characters are kinda just... eh. not that grooses story isnt fun mind, just that it'd probably not be as memorable if it had stiffer competition in its own game.
- the sky is sooooo fucking empty, like, holy shit is this bad. zelda overworlds tend to be busywork commutes mind, but the sky here is particularly bad for it seeing as huge tracts of it are given over to empty space and the selection of places to visit and explore are minimal and kept purely to the functional. and it takes way to long to get anywhere in the sky to boot.
GAMEPLAY
- non motion controlled swordplay is an interesting experience. things like faking out ghiriam feel a little bit more difficult but wracking up damage on foes is a lot quicker and easier. almost to quick even as i found myself taking damage i might otherwise not have or hitting any enemy before their invul frames came to an end simply because it was so easy to jump the gun.
- the gear felt generally waaaay to situational for my taste to the point that the bow when i got it was the only gear i really used on a regular basis outside of required puzzle use. its faster then a lot of the other gear and more importantly its one of the only things that actually does damage.
- dungeon design was pretty neat, i like how so much of it felt so compact, very little wasted space. kinda makes me wish we had gotten a few more of them, say an extra set of dungeons instead of the world challenges to get he song pieces?
- the silent realms feel surprisingly generous all things considered? like, i was pretty regularly bltizing through them when they came up which felt odd given the seeming sense of their importance/challenge the game tries to build up.
BOSSES
- own dedicated section
- 1st ghiharam definitely works as a first boss, having a strong mix of elements to test if you are paying attention in combat or not
- 2nd the bolder spider thing, i refuse to look up names, is honestly more so tedious then it is fun
- 3rd the scorpion, almost would have worked better as the first boss if im being honest, as it covers the same bases as ghiharam well generally being a little easier to handle, the only complication being when it burrows in the sand but even thats a pretty easy thing to spot
- 4th the shiva golem thing, definitely the most fun non ghiharam boss, having a varied enough moveset to test your skills, and interesting progression of phases, and a really satisfying visceral feeling when ya start hacking it to pieces with its own swords
- 5th da kraken, this thing sucks both in terms of design and to actually fight, like the 2nd boss it mostly just wastes time
- 6th ghiharam round 2. really ups the anti compared to the previous fight with more aggressive strategies, integration of magic, and a more foreboding presence in general
- 7th the imprisoned. lumping all the imprisoned fights together, for something thats suppose to feel epic and life threatening they mostly just end up being boring slogs of wrestling with the camera. became mildly more tolerable when i started regularly using grooses bombs to just stun the fuckin thing so i could slash at its toes
- 8th giharam round 3. less impressive then round 2 if im being honest, its a neat fight in terms of visual and story around it, but i never really felt like i learned what i was doing yet it was waaaay to easy to brush through the first phase and the second phase felt more like winning by accident
- final demise. honestly before he calls lightning from the sky it feels like an intense fight. demise can mostly shrug off your blows, he hits pretty hard and fast, he has a sortta feint parry thing going on, your openings to attack feel somewhat minimal. then the second phase happens with the lightning and you get an instant 'break his shit open button' in skyward strikes. cool death though

replied to your post
“it kinda makes me sad when artists giving out tutorials on character...”
oh could you talk more about this? :o
ABSOLUTELY thank u for enabling me to go off about designs i love this shit this may get a bit long so its going under a readmore (sorry if ur on mobile i hope it works)
gonna start this off with im no expert Nor have i taken any sort of official art class this is me just analyzing characters from what i found that makes them memorable to ppl (most of these examples are going to be from games sorry i got them on my mind)
ok so basically making a memorable revolves around personality and appearance now theres different ways to go about showing these things and i think from consuming media you like will help narrow down how you wanna go about it, basically thinking about your character inside and out!
SO shapes and hyperstylization is a good way to get a fun appearance across in a cartoon esp media and is often what a lot of artists stress on an example of using shapes and a good silhouette to make a memorable character is sonic!(specifically comic sonic)
(had to google idw sonic for a non...u know image)
but not only do they use lots of triangles for this hedgehog they also made him blue! you’d be more likely to remember a blue headgehog over a realistically colored one!(also almost all of the sonic characters have a combination of fun shape + unusual color to help you remember them! the designs werent afraid to use color to make a bold statement)(he’s also segas mascot so of course they put a lot of work in his design)
now sonics appearance is not the only reason why people like him or remember him so much he’s also got personality! he’s cocky, fast, always getting into trouble, “you’re too slow!”, accompanied by shitty butt rock and a cool guy persona ie he’s got personality! and they weren’t afraid to give him some weird interests(see the butt rock) and he’s not perfect( see arrogance) if youve ever played a sonic game you have almost always remembered the crush 40 theme that went with it
all in all to go with his unusual appearance he’s got some unusual traits! it helps make him believable! admittedly he’s not the most embarrassing of the sonic crew (see knuckles or shadow) but he’s definitely rounded and not boring from an objective standpoint(you can not like sonic or his games i dont care)
(another example of something that requires good shapes is pokemon altho they arent really like very depthy since there are 600+ and some only have like a pokedex entry worth of info but still they have good and memorable designs)
NOW something that doesnt have the most “good shapes” design off the top of my head is link
now in the most recent zelda game his most memoriable physical attribute is that he’s on the androgynous side w his longer hair and smaller build but in his older designs he looked something like this
(art for a loz:link to the past)
not really that much of a striking silhouette, but what do we look at and kinda leaves an impression on us? his hair and hat! its very silly to see someone in such a big green hat with that big of bangs/mullet, the hat at least became so ridiculous of a look that in botw nintendo didnt include his hat in links main outfit bc it was too hard to make look good, its silly! thats good! its fine to have a normal human looking characters because sometimes stories are about humans, but if you want us to remember them include something that will strike us as strange for them
also probably a good thing to note is the noises link makes when he swings his sword, jumps, pushes something, ie any action they have always been something that has stuck with me
(another example similar to this is in mgs solid snake in mgs is this cool super spy but is rocking a full on mullet which is considered a joke hairstyle. this leaves an impression on us. a spy with a mullet! how ridiculous! another example is raiden who was specifically made bc a woman wrote that she didnt want to play as an “old man” so the protagonist of the super spy game is a longer haired pretty boy (with a huge ass))
now ive explained a little on a character with good shapes and personality and a character with a more “boring” shape design that makes up for it with almost quirky design choices but i feel like theres another series thats what originally got me thinking about how even a memorable silhouette doesnt need hyperstylization
ace attorney! (which is out on switch now if u havent played it i would def recommend it)
if you dont know the protagonist is the guy in the blue suit(phoenix), which well he looks like just a guy...with ridiculously spikey hair enough so that in his silhouette you can recognize him but also his posture (the pointing) makes for a sticking recognizable image bc if you’ve played the games you can practically hear objection just from looking at phoenix’s silhouette
which is another thing id like to talk about! not only are a good shape a way to have a good silhouette but posture is also important! how the character holds themselves can say alot about them just from a glance! such as meekness, arrogance, confidence, sadness, anger, happiness its a very important too especially when you arent relying on stylization
now onto the characters of ace attorney ive gone over phoenix's design a bit but theres a few others id like to look at with some Weird style choices that make us remember them(just going to glance over them since this post is so long)
now, this woman, franziska von karma, she dresses kind of strange for a prosecutor but her outfit is not too out there and her silhouette is not striking
but you see that whip? remember how i said she was a prosecutor? yeah she will strike people in court for getting off topic and will even hit phoenix when he starts breaking down her witnesses testimonies, which what literally strikes up about her
another prosecutor, godot, now his hair could provide a somewhat memorable shape but what we first notice is the strange mask on his face which is weird, but not the Same weird as franziska bringing a whip to court thus having both of these prosecutors being Weirdly memorable for different things (another note is his liking of coffee that he does not give up even in court ha ha)
now onto the other protag for the aa games
apollo! who also has weirdly spikey hair, but even if you put a silhouette of him next to phoenix you could tell there some was a difference between the two! its showing a pattern with the protags while also keeping them distinct enough to be able to tell who is who! although you cant say the pointy haired guy from ace attorney and not get just One answer unlike saying the prosecutor who has a whip but still they are distinct to people who have little experience with the series
sorry i dont have any sort of conclusion on this this was just sort of me rambling on about character design, but my main point is if you are discouraged bc all your characters dont have wildly different silhouettes thats ok! there are other ways to establish a good memorable character! dont be afraid to make them a little weird! give your character pink hair in a medieval setting, have them be ridiculously in love with tigers they have a striped shirt and pants, let them love childrens tv shows and have them never miss an episode, give them wacky hair or an extreme love of gum, show us some personality!! but dont forget about how they act and their values and dont forget that posture can go a long way for establishing a first impression
there are also many other methods to making a good character! like colors and dress!
silly is the way to go! have fun with it!!
there isnt just one way to make a good character!! theres plenty of more series that have good character design that i didnt mention pay attention to why you like the characters you like! also watch this video bc its really good
#atissi#im sorry this is so long and incoherent#im sure this is hard to parse so im realyl sorry if i end up confusing ppl

Alrighty!
So Link's parents don't exist and there is literally no information on them anywhere? Did they even exist in the first place?
So yes, Link has had parents, i dont see how he would exist without them?
Does Zelda not have a mom? (Have we ever had a game in which Zelda does have a mom??)
Zelda at the point of the game doesn't have a mother, but again like link i assume this is because of death or something to that end.
Zelda has a mother that is mentioned in BOTW but I think that's it? The rest of them i dont believe are mentioned but I've not played every zelda game so you'd have to ask around.
Actually, does anyone in Skyloft have two parents, because I am sensing a theme here.
Yes! You do a gratitude crystal quest for one of the children, Kukiel is the daughter of Wryna and Jakamar, both of whom you can meet on skyloft.
Is Skyloft a patriarchal society? You said Pipit is providing for himself and his mom, so is that because he's the only other family member or because he's "the man of the house?"
Pipit is the only other family member, that has a job. His mother is a stay-at-home mum.
I dont know? But with it being so small I cant see how that would be beneficial to them at all. Theres I think 45 named characters in Skyloft. (Give or take). Which is a Very small society of people. They cant afford to work in a system like that.
Also, favorite headcanons/backstories about this that aren't yours and why you like them (if you don't mind).
There are a lot of good ones out there so none spring to mind, I'd have to go looking. I'll go looking when I have a little more time and give you some when i can! :)
Please go ahead and explain your headcanons. I would like to hear what they are and the reasoning behind them
MY TURN :D
Under the cut to save feeds and so I can warn that this gets pretty dark because I love me a tragic backstory
So, ive got a full blown backstory written out for this so I'm in the process of making another post to go into full details but i shall summarise for you here
Link's mother : Isa
Links father: Lori
Who very much existed, are unfortunately dead, Links father was a professor of the academy but was sent beneath the clouds after his loftwing lost control in a storm when he was looking for a student. Link would have been 5 at the time.
(Theres a room downstairs which strich and cawlin stay in which i think could have been an instructors room once upon a time, like the room is tiny and is too different from the other student rooms)
His mother, who graduated at the same time (as link's father) was a night patrol flier. After losing her husband she took care of Link with the help of Zelda's dad but died from an infection of an internal wound after falling from her loftwing.
I'm not here for a neglectful mother, but I am here for a tragic story.
Link then stayed with Zelda (I say this was from 7/8 onwards), and obtained his loftwing like the rest of his class at age 8. He stayed in the knight academy like zelda did and eventually obtained his own room which he lives in long term.
I have so many headcanons I need to be stopped.
Zelda's mother died from a mysterious illness that no one could figure out, nothing would cure it. (I dont have as much about zelda's side)
Thats all I'll say for the moment :)
Um hi I was wondering if you could maybe explain Sky's background a little bit for me? I'm wondering if there's any information about his family situation and why he lives at the school. Do all the students live at the school, or only some of them? I also read your post about the beds and it said Pipit has his own house but it's dusty so does he just work all the time?
Sorry if this is a lot, I just wanted to ask what you think since not everything is in the fandom wikis and game guides.
Hi there!
So officially we dont know too much about these questions but I'll try my best to summarise what we know for you.
Links parents are not in the picture, assumed to be dead because they are never mentioned in the game or otherwise. We also know that Link is a childhood friend of Zelda and her family, (The headmaster Gaepora who is her father). He along with other students lives at the Knight Academy and from what I can find that is a choice for the other students. Link lives there because well he's got nowhere else to go.
It's possible he's lived there for most of his life like Zelda is assumed to have done, you can see he's a little more settled than the other students are which would indicate that he's more permanent than the others are.
When it comes to Pipit, he lives at home with his mother, pipit is the main breadwinner of the house which is why if you look around the knight academy at night time you can find him on patrol. (you find this out after helping his mother with cleaning the house after obtaining the gust bellows) it's understood that his mother is lazy and just doesn't like cleaning so will just live in a mess and then use's the money that Pipit earns for food and other household items to give to people to get them to do the cleaning. (The first time you do this for her she gives you a gratitude crystal)
I hope this helps!
I've got so many headcannons for Sky's backstory which I'll go into if people want me to. (As my fave I will ramble on all day)

The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening remake
-Note: It’s kind of embarrassing to admit but my comments around the visuals of A Link to the Past and Link’s Awakening are straight-up incorrect. The two games did not share the same visual style and I honestly don’t know why I said that; I most definitely knew better. Still, I’m not going to get rid of it because the internet needs more examples of people admitting to be being wrong.
I say a lot that I want to be positive, but it’s really gonna be hard with this one. See, at the latest Nintendo Direct it was announced that they would be releasing a remake of the 26 year old game, The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening. As it happens I was already considering writing something about this game in a “Games from my Childhood” article, but that would actually have been positive! This one is… well, I’m going to at least try and balance every negative with a positive.
-at least the title screen looks good-
So where to begin: I won’t cover the story because spoilers but how about some personal background? The game came out a year before I did (ha! bad jokes) and I have no idea when I got my grubby little paws on it, but it was a part of my life genuinely for as long as I can remember, along with the Pokémon games. I never completed it as a child, but my memories of it were so good that I returned to it as an adult and completed it, learning its sad secret.
-hey! according to this it released the same year I did; me getting my years mixed up I guess-
Link’s Awakening (LA) was originally a pet project made outside of work hours which is why it borrows resources from other games such as the Mario series, but it was eventually released to critical acclaim. The gameplay is much the same as its immediate predecessor A Link to the Past (LttP), but with a number of new items and a unique soundtrack. Visually it is much the same as well, although its original release was black and white for the GameBoy with Link’s Awakening DX adding colour for the GameBoy Colour.
So let’s start with the visuals as that is most of what we have right now: the original shared its visuals with LttP what with them using the same assets (tools, resources etc) and LttP had a sequel recently that looked really nice. But the upcoming LA remake looks nothing like it; I wouldn’t expect it to but when a defence of the artistic choice is that “it’s an update of the original graphics” (so why not use the assets from the LttP remake?) or that it somehow “reflects the atmosphere of the original” except there’s no reason for it to be any different to, again, the LttP remake. And in response to the “atmosphere”, LA was one of the darker yet in some ways more whimsical games; this new style is childish to the extreme.
Don’t get me wrong, I love something that is good and childish, but there is a level when it stops being great and starts to feel like they condescend to the player. Bright colours, simple faces, high pitched noises- Oh god the noises!! I’ll expand on the sounds later but I’m still on the visuals. I’ve heard the game described as looking like Claymation, which isn’t wrong, but my immediate thought was that it looked like cheap plastic. And after watching it again and again as I discussed it with a friend, this opinion stuck.
-tell me this doesn’t look like claymation; this isn’t a game, it’s an animated short film-
You know how shiny and tacky cheap plastic usually looks? Imagine an entire game like that; an entire world like that. Fans of anime may understand what I say next, but there is a large element of “chibi” in this new game. Large head, tiny body. It’s often seen in short 4 minute spin offs of popular series.
-as you can see, chibi is hardly meant to be taken seriously-
-just to hammer things home-
So shiny plastic, silly chibi art with a soulless expression. Oh yeah, that. Link’s eyes have zero soul behind them. Zero. He’s a freakin’ monster. Have you seen those Funko Pops? You know how empty they look? Some have said it somehow reflects the original game’s art again, but back then they didn’t have the technology to make him look soulless and young me always thought he looked determined; it was really cool.
-determined; dead inside-
Okay, so I said I would try and be fair, and I have shat upon the plasticine toy-box long enough, so here’s what is good visually. The areas are actually really nice.
Ignoring the nail varnish sheen on everything, things are really detailed. There is an unfortunate trend in games, likely due to technical limitations, to have flat textures. Basically, imagine the difference between a tile or wood panel floor, and a picture of a tile or wood panel floor. But this game looks to have really tried in these areas. The grass looks thick and lush, tiles look like more than a photograph on the floor and even the flat flowers on the ground look decent. Just a shame it all looks like LEGO. Actually, a LEGO Zelda game would be awesome. But this is not that.
I haven’t explained that very well, it’s an area that I am new at but I will say that clearly a lot of care has gone into the assets and the world. It is not a lazy game in any way.
-don’t tell me those trees and rocks and- well, everything, don’t look like LEGO-
Next I’m going to talk about the sound. First of all, I’m convinced that they have artificially increased the pitch of Link’s voice so it is painfully sharp to the ears. I’ll admit, I have an unusual sensitivity to lights and sound and thus I prefer darker colours and quieter sounds; I avoid clubs like the plague and not just because I’ll likely catch it there. So maybe, just maybe, I’m noticing something that won’t be a problem for most, and is just unfortunate for me. And let’s ignore that it doesn’t match the darker tone of the game.
And the music? Also quite high pitched. And super cheery. It doesn’t have either the dreamlike or dark tones that could be expected (and just thinking of how it could be dreamlike gives me shivers; it could be so good) but is instead inanely cheery. In fact, I hope they sped everything up for the trailer and the pitch is just an unfortunate side-effect.
On the plus side, the trailer opens with a cool cinematic and I swear the music changes from a nice, cheerful rendition (I don’t dislike cheerful in-and-of-itself) of the Zelda main theme to the death squeals of various instruments that I mentioned before. On top of that, it ends on a really nice vocal version of the LA theme, Ballad of the Wind Fish. If the trailer had been the cinematic and that closing song alone then I would be beyond excited about the remake. Thank heaven it wasn’t, I’m not sure my love of the series could survive such a plummeting disappointment.
youtube
-and here’s the actual trailer for your perusal-
So I’ll finish here. I was originally very pleased, excited even that they had decided to remake what was a favourite, underrated and apparently forgotten game, but I kept my expectations low because I knew what to expect from these companies. I thought I did anyway. I was still disappointed. I thought I had prepared for the worst. Still, at least it gave me something to write about.
But, the game has clearly had a lot of work put into it and gameplay-wise it actually looks to flow really well so I’m sure it controls like a treat. But the visuals and music are too big of a deal for me to let slide; if it keeps up like this then it could literally be painful for me to play. Still, games do change a lot from the initial trailer to its release and I even put forth an idea of why the sound may hurt me so much here. Maybe the final game will be a lot better. Unfortunately, the things I want to be done in games and such rarely are, and I am often alone in my complaints.
And finally, yes I am aware that the famous and incredibly popular Wind Waker entry in the series also had similar complaints and became, as I said, incredibly popular. I wasn’t a part of that crowd, I was too young and honestly, Link’s Awakening was the only Zelda game I had actually played at that time.

i finished botw yesterday!!! and by that i mean i defeated ganon i didnt do all the shrines/side quests or anything lol
anyway the game is rly Good so here’s me spitting out my thoughts on it
the final boss was kind of anticlimactic? it was just.... too easy... it probably didnt take me more than 10 minutes at least thats how it felt like. the final form of ganon was rly cool tho.
also the fact that i hadnt planned on fighting ganon when i went to hyrule castle but then was like “WELP im here so might as well!” probably didnt help make the finale feel any less anticlimactic lol
ppl have said this before that the open world gameplay of botw makes it difficult to have a rly solid narrative which i agree with and i think this is one example of the freedom of the gameplay kind of hindering the pacing of the plot.... i dont think it’s Impossible to balance those things tho and i hope they figure it out for the next zelda game since im sure theyre keeping the open world gameplay. bc it’s Good.
i also did the champions ballad dlc!! which was rly fun! i still wish we got to see more of how theyre relationship w/ link developed tho bc the dlc was kind of just individual looks into their personality which was coool but Please... i want that good found family content im dying
also i didnt occur to me that the photo you get from kass can be displayed in your house so when i got the cutscene with link hanging up the photo and he’s smiles looking up at it iiiim sooooo ;__________;
also in urbosa’s diary when she talks about how zelda, link, revali, and mipha are so young and how theyre hyrule’s future and that she and daruk hope to help them see that future ;_____; IM!!! EMO!!!!
i understand that sometimes characters need to be Dead but also dont do this i’ll be Sad
and aaaaaalso daruk is so cool... and i wish his diary was less joke-y lol... like i feel like they couldve kept the part of his personality that’s simple and straightforward while also shedding light on the other aspects of his personality bc his diary is kind of just... food + also here’s how i met link! it’s basically him relaying stuff he sees happening but not much about himself
the gorons are a community that are very family-oriented! yknow with the whole brotherhood thing! and it’s reflected in daruk by him basically adopting link as an “official brother” and how willingly he is to die not just for his people but for all of hyrule... yes he’s a warrior but above all he’s a Protector and iDK I JUST THINK THAT’S SO COOL AND I WISH THEY DID MORE WITH THAT BUT WHATEVER!!!
same with mipha... i think she wouldve been a rly interesting foil to zelda... theyre both princesses w/ magic powers but while mipha is so beloved, zelda is kind of the opposite and thats rly interesting but she kind of just serves to be the tragic love interest.... i rly loved in her memory when she tells link “i will always protect you” like the wording of it is Active rather than Passive? her telling the Legendary Hero Who Seals The Darkness that she will protect him is rly cool...
but then yknow... when you free vah ruta and she talks about how she’s happy to play the role of support and im just... guuuuhhh... thats very typical for characters like her idk. im just tired of characters like her who are relegated to supporting roles and dont have much more to their character other than being timid damsels in love w/ the hero
especially bc i see hints of her being so much More than that especially in her champion’s ballad memory but it’s not enough bc a lot of her character hinges on the fact that she’s in love with link and how sad it is that she died without expressing her love which is rly awkward bc we dont even know how link feels about her at all overall the character writing for the champions couldve been better.... but zelda’s characterization is Really Good. A+. and usually i care more about story than gameplay when it comes to video games but i think botw was the most fun ive ever had playing a video game so theres that one last complaint tho... why didnt link and zelda hug at the end..... please.... theyre Friends....
OH WAIT. at the end when zelda says she thinks the 100 years she spent fighting off ganon probably made her powers fade away.... and how, now, she can accept that and she smiles AND ;____; MY DAUGHTER!!! SHE’S FINALY HAPPY!! IT’S WHAT SHE DESERVES!!

Hi! I found your art through facebook (an undertale group I liked!) and wow! youre so silly and dorky and its great... (by the by i really really love the way you draw mtt n alphys! soooo cute!) so i want to know :c where do you pull inspiration from?? :Oc
(well im glad whatever group still linked back to me lmfao, im not gonna get into/worry abt that right now)
i dunno if you wanted more on how i draw Alphys n MTT interacting or how i draw em specifically lmfao so here i go w a long explanation
so like. i love alphys so much and i dont see a lot of love to her character, she gets really swept under the rug. and she’s made fun of more often than not so i fight for my lizard wife. She’s a really good, well rounded character and deserves not to be the punchline all the time.
also i never rly bought into Big Sexie MTT lmfao, theres plenty of those. i always loved stars that are more genuine, rather than some lofty inhuman being. i feel like, as much with all his flaws. he’s still a good person. he’s just trying to hard to impress, and i think that if he didnt worry about that as much, he’d be way more chill, yknow? i try to draw that side of him. i might’ve gotten a bit carried away w Snag i think, but he’s really precious to my heart, and i feel like he’s not like. completely non-canon lol,, i like to believe
As for general inspiration though -- I take inspo from a lot of things! I consume a lotta media, thats defo the best way that i’ve found to improve both with writing and style.
Manga/Anime like, Fullmetal Alchemist, One Punch Man, My Hero Academia, Trigun, studio trigger’s style, all sorts of stuff have inspired me both in the way they handle heavier subject matter while still making it fun to watch, with plenty of humor and happiness alongside the deeper subject material.
I also take a lot from video games ahah, All the Zelda games i’ve played, things like fallout, undertale ofc, and other story driven games inspire me a lot with how they handle morality and inserting the player directly into the story yknow? A lotta times characters i make, especially for fan characters, are based off what i experienced playing, how maybe I would handle a specific situation.
you can find a lot of inspiration from yourself tbh?? seeing what you’d do in situations. or what you’d want to do. a lot of my chars are either full on self inserts lmfao, or at least partially based off myself. (looks at arwen)
THIS GOT A LITTLE LONG-WINDED BUT. ITS A BIG SUBJECT LMFAO

TODAY’S ZELDABLOGGING, which has ENDGAME SPOILERS (yes i beat it):
all right i got about ~3 hours to get my shield and beat zelda lets fucking do this
the temple of time music is breaking my heart
this is one place where i'm mostly ok with them not using a classic tune for it tbh
like this music has so much grief and tranquility
i used to think the plateau was SO huge and really it's almost miniscule
i know it's a bit of a waste of time but i'm making the final trek on foot, no fast travel, temple of time to the castle
So Many Guardians
i can fight them now but only if theyre in the right place too close or far away and i cant do it
on a side note: yesterday (?) i found a beautiful pink spring i took many pictures of
today i saw that glowing spot on the map and realized i'd never figured out what it was!
dropped a pin bc i was curious, and it's the pink spring
temptation to warp over, check it out, and warp back: astronomical
but i'm on both a mission and a time limit, so it'll have to wait
ok. ok. im Here. its Time. lets go. shield first. that is My Shield, and the stalnox Cannot have it
there's a door i can't figure out how to open :/
ah, i see the stalnox
but i want that door!
google isn't helping me so i guess i have to leave it??
ok, all abilities fully charged, 3 fairies, plenty of food. i can do this. i almost killed one by accident once. that is MY SHIELD.
oh my god its got SWORDS stuck all in it jesus FUCK
my first shot did a lot of damage! but im wearing the atk+ armor which i can't keep on, it's a glass cannon
oh my god that was so EASY?
i kicked its ASS LMAO
YESSSS THERES MY SHIELD OH YES
holy shit when my swoprd strikes something in here it sounds like cannon fire! steady glowing too
i don't think there's one right way to go here so i'm gonna try to explore as much as i can
i've been spoiled by the fact that zelda has a diary laying out somehwere so i wanna find it for myself
ohhh the remains of the red carpet in here
i'm actually next to the tower i climed before, apparently i was just shy of exploring all there was to see up there...i'll see if i can have another look
lol i decide that and it IMMEDIATELY begins with the lightning storm
i found it!!! oh god was this her bedroom ;_;
AAAH SHE TALKS ABOUT LINK
he's quiet and persostent and can't resist a good meal
and it talks about why he never speaks ;_;
I LOVE THIS HE HAS A PERSONALITY!!!!
omg she even talks about her mother ;_;
A WOMAN NOT OF THIS EARTH
the goddess hylia or was it fi?? oh my god.......
WORTH IT!!!
found the guard chambers ;_; this all hurts my heart, so much was just Lost
oh my god no THE BLOOD MOON...

honestly fighting my way thru moblins in hyrule castle...haha man
ohhhh the library ): i bet zelda loved it here
oh my god they even had docks under the castle!!!
oh NO i found the king's journal
he hated being cruel to her and was gonna be kind when she got back but instead the last time they really saw each other they were fighting!!!
still doesn't give him an excuse tbh but i can find a SLIVER of sympathy now
okay so........now i've explored all the insides. i go out?? i.......fight ?????
oooohh god im scared again ))):
oh shit oh Shit i found it oh god

oh god this is gonna be tough
haha "guardian weapons will break your shield" NOT MY SHIELD
i mean yes it can break but its Highly durable and replacements can be made if it does
OH GOD HE'S GROSS HE'S BUGLIKE WHY WHY
GANON THE MAN WOULD HAVE BEEN SO MUCH BETTER
i mean i know. they had us fight a manlike thing in ss AND tp but. i miss him

ohhh the credits showed a bit of everybody and despite myself when they played the trailer song and showed the old man/the plateau i welled up we've come so far
HEY THERE'S SHIGERU MIYAMOTO'S NAME HEYYYYYYYY
awww that was the last song of the trailer
A STINGER
THANK GOD
ohh my god
IF THE SPIRITS OF THE CHAMPIONS AND THE OLD MAN WATCHING LINK AND ZELDA WEREN'T AN OOT NOD....
OH MY GOD ONE MORE SECOND AND ZELDA COULD HAVE MET EYES WITH HER FATHER
jesus christ, old man disappeared last too, my HEART
theyre gonna restore hyrule!! they're gonna travel together again!!
okay i GOTTA load my file and see what's what
awww it's the one i saved right before the battle i thought there was post-game content...?
it does have a little star next to it tho
ah well
that was.......incredible
and i cried
so there's that
man!!!!! im so, so glad
what a good game
honest crit: no, it wasn't PERFECT
i could have stood more classic tunes to punch me in the feels more often and give us more of that old #aesthetic since they changed SO much about everything else - at times it didn't even quite feel like a zelda game, though the reminders that it WAS were always heartbreaking and wonderful
also maybe this was just my playstyle but i feel like there could have been more than just the four dungeons since they were so short...i know the dungeon-y puzzle stuff was spread all around with koroks and shrines, but is One big dungeon too much to ask? even hyrule castle had 1000 ways you could have gotten through
could have stood a little more acknowledgement of who you were and what you were doing as the divine beasts started waking up? like from npcs and shit, not even for Glory or whatever but just because the story felt reeeeeeally spread out, even with the memories scattered everywhere
and again a little bias here but some of the battles once you began getting Up There were a little TOO fake-difficult...i saw white bokoblins in old old places so i know it has to do with You, not your location, and i could have lived w/o it tbh
would have loved some form of new game + or postgame content, but maybe i'm just sad bc i misunderstood a spoiler or w/e it was that happened
things i loved:
the music
the cinematics, holy shit
the voice acting
when they DID use classic tunes it was to INCREDIBLE effect, same with the castle style, the ruins, even the nostalgic armor
obviously the open world gameplay was delightful and addicting, i literally couldn't get enough
the final boss battle wasn't too hard but VERY climactic and wonderful, just difficult Enough - could have maybe been a BIT harder but then i did start with him at half health!!
the dungeons, while there weren't enough of them, were EXTREMELY cool, i felt DWARFED by those beasts, after i saw the first one i never called them jaegers again
actually kind of liked the weapon durability thing bc then i could just pick them up during combat when i was running low and steal them or fight with them, throw them, etc
did not like the BOW durability, all my bows broke VERY quickly, that and running out of arrows always was totally urgh...even with my weapons inventory upgraded i STILL couldn't hold all the cool ones the game threw at me, it needed to be like that for players that favored the bow - more of them that were OP, more arrows, etc
anyway i could go on and on but
i gotta sleep, and
i'm so happy zelda is free
it would have been so cool to have her as a companion in post-game, Somehow
or at least see her reunion with all those who missed her
or see link get his memories back
it ended a bit too soon but it was beautiful and i loved it
goodnight

Nice choices. I get it some otps still come back to mind years later and im still loving them. Do you perhaps have a link or an idea where i can watch shakespeares julius caesar online? I tried looking through yt but the audio quality each time wasnt so good. I dont mind the language much since i can understand english french german and italien hopefully well enough. Or sth with subtitles? Im just desperate lol. And did you play the witcher games or read the books? How did you get into it?
The play was made into a movie in 1953 which i enjoyed (marlon brando as mark antony!!), i actually *cough* downloaded that somewhere back in the day but i just saw its also available on amazon prime so if you search for “julius caesar (1953)” you might have more luck, the movie is apparently quite famous? That movie is also the only version of the play i have ever seen, sadly, but apparently there once was a stage adaption where brutus and cassius kissed :---) if i EVER come across any footage of that you can be certain to find it on my blog haha
My start into the witcher was actually quite random, i didnt game at all back then bc i only had an old laptop, i had just started studying slavistics at university and was generally super into slavic paganism and slavic folk stuff and the likes, then a friend of mine starts spamming me with This Slavic Fantasy Game due to be released and sending me all the trailers and teasers and i just. hmm. damn. this. this is good. so i tried out whether my laptop could handle the first game, which it did, and it is to this day my favourite witcher game no shame, and that really got me into gaming (gaming as in not nintendo i spent half my childhood on pokemon and zelda). second game was a fkn torture on that laptop, but i got through it, sometimes at 240p. ya gotta do whatcha gotta do. then i made all my friends buy the witcher 3 so i could play with them bc i had no possibility to. i now finally own a playstation and am currently playing it, id say im almost at the end but im still working on all the side quests before theres no going back, just as probably everyone else lol.
I also read the books, but only the first 4 ones, i read the short story books in one go bc i loved them so much but then i really just stopped reading for fun in general bc i already read so much for uni :/ but im now reading the second novel in czech so i can at least say im training the language for uni ;) and im currently relistening the first books as audiobooks bc netflix pulled me back into the craze and i dont remember a lot ^^

rules: answer 30 questions and tag 10 blogs you would like to get to know better.
((alright but when have I ever followed the rules...... just sayin))
1. nicknames: reed... uh..... sometimes ppl call me weed to mock me but then i just punch them and its good (just kdding im weak as shit)
2. gender: hey so i find that if you don't identify yourself, people you talk to online are less likely to preemptively subconsciously stereotype you and therefore judge you before really getting to know you. So let's keep it that way. Unlock lvl 3 friendship before I reveal who I truly am to you LMFAO
3. Star sign: aries grr!
4. Height: 5'5", maybe 5'6" ??? idk man all i know is my little sister is taller than me and it makes me mad bc I personally am not that short!!!!
5. time: 2:16 am
6. bday: March 22
7. favorite bands: well shit uh, Sakanaction, Bump of Chicken, Dogcatcher, The Oh Hellos, FOB, Unison Square Garden.... im sure im missing something but... o well.
8. Favorite Solo Artist: I can't choose so u get all of em. Hachi (Yonezu Kenshi), Aimer, Sasakure.UK, Harito, Keichi Okabe, EMI EVANS god ,,, As well as a collection of, indie people,... and anyone that did the drakengard/nier osts / gravity rush 1 & 2 Osts, wow. seriuosly. Amazing.
9. Song stuck in my head right now: Douse shinundakara, (its a lie that its not stuck right now but its been for the past few days!) because I found the jp translation and made english lyrics and have been practicing hittin those high notes in the car on the way to school LMFAO.... same with hoshii no kieta by Aimer.;..... its like car karaoke hawhaw
10. Last movie I saw was. Uh. UHHH. In theaters, it was Hitmans Bodyguard, which by the way was campy and ridiculous and pretty funny if seen with the right people.
11. Last show I watched: was Rick and Morty, earlier today, in my school lounge on my computer. s3 ep 7 is really, really good. Like really good. It's also pretty fucked up.
12. when I created this blog: its been. A very. long time. this blog has only really ever been for reblogs... if u wanna chat w me find a discord server im part of and bother me there... or pm me, because i prefer one on one conversations even if im shit at keeping them going.
13. what I post: oh shit i answered this one already by accident OOPS UHHHH i reblog good art, shitty memes, and PSA's that I think are important. Im here to haev a good time. I have a seperate art blog that's in my about tab so there's that.
14. last thing I googled: the definition of the word galvanized. I am now slightly more verbose.
15. do I have any other blogs: like, two. artblog, old blog where I uploaded covers when I was in middle school, and a personal vent blog.... i accidently reblogged something to there though so I deleted it oops lmfao. But its ok, it was meant to be ephemeral and writing my thoughts down is therapeutic so I'll make another one once again.
16. do I get asks: literally never. Not even bots, LMFAO.
17. why did i choose my url: I've stuck with the name Reed for a really long time now but its also a pretty generic name, so i came up with this shitty pun and it stuck. it's probably my steam username too but like shifted around a little. any time i can't get 'reed' as a username i default to im.reed.ing or something like that.
18. followers: whoa, 175, really???? I get the impression that quite a few of them are inactive though, or i post so irregularly and infrequently that no one ever sees my posts LOL.
19. following: 380 and still counting. I turn on notifs for artblogs I really like!!! >;3
20. favorite snack for movie/tv: Honestly I used to not chow much while watching or itd be something generic like chips, but recently I started marathoning naruto of all things w a friend and we go to the asian supermarket beforehand and we get like a bunch of popped rice chips or sweets and various foods and some iteration of hi-chews and THAT is my favorite marathon snack tbh.
21. average hours of sleep: NEVER ENOUGH. It goes from like 2-3 hours on days when i have no self ocntrol... to like 12-16 on days when i... have no... self control.... lays down slowlyl.....
22. wHAT THE HECK THERES NO NUMVER 22 TRIKEY skdjhfksu cMON MANG
23. lucky number: my rng is shit but my favorite number is 4 because someone dear to me likes that number... but also because 4 is unlucky in some places, which I identify with.... but also bc 4 is the # of sides in a square/diamond, and squares are perfect and good shit and aesthetic. My boyfriend is a squa-- //kicked jk jk ramiel is a octohedron, i take it bac k ....
24. instrument: i can play the piano (barely) but I used to also do violin trumpet and a teeny bit of flute.... learned the ocarina too bc im a zelda nerd, and I dont mean that silly little 4-hole one. But I also sing and stuff and have been actively practicing, one day ill make a decent cover and learn to mix and be one of dem cool youtaites..... lays down slowly. this is fine.
25. what I am wearing right now: a lot of things,,, a watch, a hyper light drifter sweater. headphones, underwear, pants, a tshirt, socks, existential dread... u name it lol.
26. first celeb crush: since i honestly never cared much for real life celebrities, i'll just give you my anime/video game crushes instead and like...... wow i can't honestly remember my first ones???? oh shit wait OK it was probably both ashitaka and san, my first ghibli movie was mononokehime... they are just so freaking coo l... ok thtas a lie i lowkey wanted to BE them. Both of them.
.... idk man u cant ask an aroace person what their crushes were bc idk what those are!!! I assume u just really really really like something/someone and thats that, I GUESS??? I wanted to be link too once upon a time. And nausicaa. and a good chunk of the soul calibur 2 cast, and starfire from oldtimey teen titans. i was a simple child ok???
27. dream job: listen thats complicated idk about what my dreams are for a job, but I do want to be an animator and a storyboarder and a game developer and a game tester and a movie critic and a cinematographer and a director and a story lead and an illustrator at some point, and gotta try it before I can knock it ya know?
28. Dream trip: anywhere, so long as its with the people I really love. One day, I'll pack a few things into my car and run away for a little while. I'll come back some day! But for those long hours on the road with another person or two, marvelling quietly at the world around them as it passes and listening to music in the car... that sounds like a nice temporary reprieve.
